I have a small collection of ostracods, which are similar to daphnia. Every once in a while, I drop in a tiny piece of food for them to feed on, and their numbers grow insanely fast! four days ago, I put one piece of wheat chex in, and now there are hundreds of them.
I am going to order either daphnia pulex or magna for a 55 gallon fishtank I have in den .
No fish yet but due to indirect sun water turned green going to try daphnia if not will go with uv. room has ac so light doesnt heat up the water but does turn it green plants doing great but water is green
You know, I thought I had a tankful of Daphnia going but after looking at this, maybe not.
Mine tend to almost hop (sink, hop twice, sink and so on) rather than swim like these guys. Perhaps I have a thriving cyclops population?
nice…i need to get a hobby like this

That’s awesome… so how do you start a daphnia culture. I need one for my fishes and fries.
